Exploding The Myths Of Eco-Friendly Products…
There are many long-standing beliefs that have been perpetuated around eco-friendly products and their benefits or, more to the point, their lack of. EverythingBranded thinks it’s about time we challenged these eco-friendly myths.
Myth 1: Eco Promotional Products Are Too Expensive
Eco friendly products are perceived as more expensive and that’s because, historically, many were. And if some eco-friendly products still are, in the long-term they’re more cost efficient because they tend to last longer. But many eco-friendly products are coming down in price, and are becoming cheaper as the eco movement increases in popularity. Take these two sports water bottles:
One is eco-friendly, the other one isn’t, and the eco-friendly bottle is actually cheaper. Can you honestly tell which one’s which?
Myth 2: Eco Products Are Poor Quality
Many people don’t believe eco-friendly products will be as good as conventional products. Conventional products are known and trusted, and people don’t like change. But eco-friendly products are typically made from recycled materials, and are sturdy and durable. The products below are a case in point. Pretty impressive…
Myth 3: Customers Don’t Care About Eco
Telling someone that a product is good for the environment is great, but it’s harder to get people to take action if there’s no obvious personal benefit. At EverythingBranded, just 2 per cent of our online requests are for eco-friendly products. However, a 2017 study on corporate social responsibility revealed customers’ responses when a company supports social or environmental issues. Here are a few of the findings:
- 87% of consumers will have a more positive image of a company that supports social or environmental issues.
- 88% will be more loyal to a company that supports social or environmental issues.
- 92% will be more likely to trust a company that supports social or environmental issues.
So it seems that the interest is there, or at least people are saying the right things. At EverythingBranded, we’re making a conscious effort in Q4 to work hard to promote and offer eco-friendly alternatives.
Myth 4: Eco-Friendly Products Aren’t Actually Eco Friendly
This is a tricky topic, and one that causes much debate. Because companies know you’re looking for assurances when you buy products, they’ll create their own labels or certifications that adhere to some arbitrary standard they’ve concocted. To be fair, defining true eco-friendliness is tough – if a company makes fashion from all-organic fibres and vegetable colours but fuel their operations with diesel or coal, and then air-freight the products to global markets, is that more sustainable than a brand that uses non-organic cotton but powers their factory with wind power? This might be a myth that can’t truly be dispelled, but is definitely one to be aware of.
The Reality: Using Eco-Friendly Products Help The Environment
You’ve read the myths, so now read an undeniable truth. Eco-friendly products are cutting edge and will often save you money, but they’re more than just good for you. If more people buy eco-friendly products, the cost of other products will go down, and it will benefit all the planet’s inhabitants.
